Our First Day of School

Well, yesterday was our first official day of home school. The kids were very excited about starting all their work (how many kids can say that?). The boys didn't even want to eat breakfast first...just start their work right away.

I decided to cook them a nice breakfast as like a fun way to start the first day. So, I made Oatmeal Banana Pancakes. They're really good...I did tweak the recipe a bit for our tastes, though.

After breakfast and chores, it was off to work. The kids did a great job and seemed to enjoy all their books.

This year is a bit more involved than the past, especially for Nicole because she's older. They seem to be getting along just fine. Even Caleb did a little reading.

Nicole's Blog

Nicole has now started her own blog. I know she would love for everyone to check it out, and maybe even leave a comment or two. We're very proud of her for doing this all by herself. Our baby is growing up!

What A Difference...

A haircut can make. On Saturday I decided to finally cut William and Josiah's hair. They both wanted to grow their hair out, but they were just looking scraggely (how's that for a word.). So, here's the boys "before" picture:

And here's their "after" picture:

What a difference a haircut can make.

Homeschool Convention

On Friday we went to a homeschool convention. Can't believe it's that time again. School starts here in the public schools on 27th! Wow, does time fly. We're gonna start school up after Labor Day. So, we went to the convention to buy all of our school books. We took the kids with us this time. First time to do that. They had a blast looking at all the cool stuff. They each had their own money that they could spend on whatever they wanted. So, they each bought a yarn marionette.

I also bought them each their own Hank the Cowdog book. The author was also there, so they each got their book signed. Pretty cool.

And here's all the books I bought.

I Just Figured This Out

I just figured out how to put videos directly into my post. So, I'm gonna put in the video of the kids dancing...just for fun. I'm soo glad I figured this out because you don't have to click any links to see them, but just watch them right on our blog page. How great!

What We've Been Up To

We've been quite busy since I posted last. Let's see what we've been up to.

My sister and her children came up from Corpus Christi to visit with us for 5 days. She stayed at my house for a few days and then we all went and stayed with my parents while Keith went out of state for some meetings. Here's a picture of the kids playing outside.

Then we've also been traveling to different meetings in Katy and Huntsville. Everyone was so friendly to us. It never gets old meeting new people.

For the past few days, the kids and I have been decluttering/cleaning their bedrooms. I didn't realize how much junk they had: boxes, old toys, papers and all kinds of things. I took some "after" pictures. Too bad I don't have any "before" pictures, but just know that they were messy and junky.

So, that's what we've been up to. And now it's off to the next thing.

To Grandmother's House We Go

Well, Friday was our 11th anniversary! It's been a good 11 years. So, we went to grandmother's house for her to watch the kids while we went to a movie and out to dinner. On our way there, Caleb fell asleep in the car. I took a picture of him asleep:

My parents have a nice pool in the back, so right when we got there the kids had to go swimming. They wore their suits on the way to the house so they would be ready. :)

So, Keith and I went and saw a good movie. Really enjoyed it. And then we went and ate at the Green Garden. Good chinese food. So, all in all we had a nice anniversary.

He Took Three Steps!!

Yep, you read that right. Caleb took three whole steps on his own today! Yeah!

Will he actually walk before he's 5? I think so!
